FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What’s your point of difference?

As well as an artist, I’m a Qigong Master, Energy and Art Therapist. This field of experience enables me to tune in energetically, intuitively, and emotionally, giving me more depth to work with when painting your furry loved ones. I also worked 2 decades as a professional graphic artist. I pride myself in offering quality over quantity and creating beautiful, authentic and heart felt art for my customers.

What is likeness of my pet to the original Photography?

Every animal has a specific energetic and emotional signature, the likeness I create stems from this place. As an artist, the way I paint (Gallery) is more abstract in look, style, and colour, rather than giving you an exact replica of the provided photograph. I prefer to tap into the emotional field, drawing on the essence of the subject. Working in a more open, free, and abstract style of painting enables more ‘feeling’ to be expressed and for the viewer's mind and heart to meet the painting and have an experience.

What is the quality required of provided photographs?

I do prefer as high quality images as possible to work with, however if this is not possible, I am open to discussing with you further. If I am creating a more intuitive piece from a beloved pet or animal who has passed over, then I may not require such a detailed photo. We can work this part out when establishing the foundations and structure before the painting process begins.

How do I communicate with you about what I want before ordering a portrait?

Please reach out to me via email at seangrameart@gmail.com to discuss what you need. Working together with you to find the best solution for your portrait is ALWAYS my preference. Your beloved furry family member means so much to you, and so will your unique and personal art of them. It is therefore important for me to understand your relationship with your loved one. From here we will open communication to establish all the relevant requirements, i.e., photography, portrait size, type, and most importantly their story. We dearly love our animals and it’s important you share with me how much you adore yours and how much they adore you. This emotion is what comes through their painting.

Customer input during the process?

Absolutely, collaboration is the name of the game, these paintings are very personal in nature, and I want you to be completely happy with your finished Portrait.

Can I see the portrait before its posted?

Yes, I will send updates as the painting progresses and show you a final shot of the completed portrait to sign off on before posting.

How is my portrait packaged and posted?

Your painting will be classed as fragile goods and wrapped and packaged with great care; so the journey to its new home will be safe and secure. Please see Shipping for more details.

Do you frame the Portraits?

Sorry I don’t offer framing of portraits. As everyone has a personal preference regarding framing, and as each home has a specific décor, it is better to find a local framer professional to supply this advice and service.

The 16/20” frames can look great within a floating frame. The larger thicker canvases however can look just as striking on the wall without a frame around them.

What materials do you use to paint?

I paint with acrylic on canvas, I prime each canvas with gesso before beginning initial sketching, and I varnish each canvas once the painting is complete, this seals the paint and protects the canvas from moisture, dust, and UV.

What animals do you paint?

I can paint any animal. If I have a good quality image to work from, I will be able to tune in and create from this place.

Can you paint people with animals?

This his depends on the complexity of the photograph provided, please view the Gallery for the reference of person with animal and reach out via email if you prefer this option.

Can I use the painting you made for commercial purposes?

Although you own the copyright to the photography provided for the portrait I paint from, I own the copyright of the artwork produced for you from that photography. Reproduction of my artwork in any format cannot be made without my written permission.

Will you display my painting on your website and social media?

I enjoy sharing my artwork on social media and my website, however if you prefer for your painting to stay private this is perfectly ok, please do communicate this with me.
